Sunset on the Curve

A pastel on Canson Mi-Tientes paper. Just picking out the lights from the darks.

Sunset on the Lake

This was painted as an experiment on using alcohol spray for setting a pastel underpainting. After a rough underpainting was placed, it was saturated with an alcohol spray causing runs and drips in some places, then allowed to dry completely. Looking for the after affects of the saturated paper. The Canson when totally dry resumed it's flat shape. Then some of the underpainting was allowed to show through to add an additional glow to the painting.

The Gardners

A pastel painted from a photo taken at the Fayetteville Botanical Gardens Summer 2011. A Plein Air of the Ozarks function.

El Malpais Tree

A pastel painted from a photo taken during IAPS 2011.

Summer Fun

A larger pastel painted on Velour paper, put away and then just recently reworked. A bright summer day on the beach.
