Todays Plein aire

Painted this morning in bright sunlight with a cloudless sky.  Air temp was a little cool, but warmed up later in the day.  About 2 hours, using palette knives only, since I had forgotten to put the brushes back in the backpack.  Live and learn.    6 x 8 oil on linen on board.

Old Buda Tx Bank

Driving through the many small towns outside of Austin last week proved to be a real adventure. Many of the towns are growing at astounding rates, but are trying very hard to preserve the original old town feel. Buda was one such place. The old bank building and a companion were painted using watercolor, making use of artistic license to change the paved street to a dirt street with wagon ruts. 8 x 10 in.

Skies over San Jose Mission

After running into a buzzsaw in San Antonio, and I mean this in the nicest way, I have decided to follow Susan's advice and create a blog to document work as I go daily through this short life. Much heartfelt thanks to Susan Carlin for the kick in the behind to do this.

This quick gouache study was painted today, looking primarily at the intense sky I observed this past week at the San Jose mission. 8 x 10 on watercolor paper.
